Alum: The most incredible environment to prepare young people to think outside of the box, learn to challenge themselves mentally, physically and emotionally. An amazing place to develop lasting friendships with people from across the globe — different backgrounds and cultures... and enjoying a special bond through your time and experiences at Andover, and beyond.
Andover teaches you so many life skills, that become more evident how useful they are the more you experience what gets thrown your way...college, business, challenges and opportunities.
Andover is the greatest investment in oneself and one’s education you could ever offer.

It is incredibly, academically rigorous but you will feel welcome and respected by your peers, teachers and friends. I guarantee you will leave feeling fulfilled.

Alum: There is so much to love about Choate. The faculty and administrators are deeply invested in educating well-rounded, world citizens who are prepared to enter any industry or academic discipline. From sports to Model UN to the performing arts, everyone has school pride!
My only critique is that the competitive nature of the school culture can be overwhelming for young students - but there are classmates, teachers, and academic or health counselors who are always ready to lend a helping hand.
Go Choate!

Sophomore: This year was my first at St. Paul’s School, and so far I have only good things to say about my experience. Overall, SPS has given me the opportunity to expand my horizons into different activities, subjects, and ideas which have, in my opinion, helped me grow as a person. Due to its selective nature, the school is made up entirely of students who want to be there and this affects classes and everyday life for the better. Because it’s relatively small, I find that it’s really easy to make friends and the student body feels more like a family than anything else. There are still a lot of things that the school needs to work on, such as greater diversity and art culture, but the administration is very receptive to the feelings of our students and has addressed them constructively. I would recommend SPS to anyone!

Senior: The Lawrenceville School is a wonderful place. It pushes you out of your comfort zone in so many ways. Over the course of four, three, two, or one years, you will learn a lot more about who you are as a person. I had a lot of trouble adjusting my freshmen year, but as a senior, I can look back and see how much I've grown each year! I am grateful for this place.

Alum: Everyone’s experience at Thacher is different, but mine was undoubtedly positive, and this is due to the people and culture. I think a large degree of why I appreciated the culture so much is because Thacher students are challenged to succeed in multiple environments, including sports, the outdoors (camping), the classroom, and the dorm. No kid is going to be the best in every environment, but because we are all exposed to each, you can see other’s strengths in areas you didn’t appreciate before, and everyone experiences a degree of humility from learning something new. While I certainly had a close group of friends, I think I get along with the vast majority of Thacher kids because of this well rounded experience.

Senior: Milton Academy is one of the best things in my life, but also the most stressful. The opportunities at Milton are endless and I feel incredibly privileged to have teachers that care about my well being, activities and clubs, a beautiful campus, and a seemingly endless supply of resources (such as art supplies, computers labs, food).
Our food selection is incredible with a food for every person in any mood. The staff is always kind which just adds to the joy of lunchtime.
While there are teachers I have heard about that are hard to work with or learn from(which happens anywhere), I have been very lucky to only have dealt with one teacher I didn't like (out of more than 25). I appreciate the skill level that the teachers have and the personal relationship that students can build with them throughout the year.
I think that the faculty is very fair and thorough when dealing with disciplinary issues and I completely agree with the standards of respect and honesty that we are held up to.

Alum: Nobles is a special place rich with tradition, oozing with school pride, and steadfast in strong community principles. I feel so fortunate to have spent my high school life in such a place where I was accepted, encouraged and challenged all in perfect harmony. The teachers are happy to be there too--they are also encouraged to challenge themselves and develop as educators and that is clear in the way they immerse themselves in their curriculum and their afternoon program duties. I love nobles more than words can share--could not recommend it more!

Alum: My experience at Cate was nothing short of phenomenal. As a young adult, my ideas and thoughts, still budding and changing, were honored. My own understanding of the world was molded significantly by every unique individual that I met, each having their own values and judgements. I am always proud to be able to tell others that I have friends from at least twenty different states and over fifteen different countries. The teachers at Cate were genuine, kind, intelligent, and dedicated adults. Each and every one of them valued the power of education and gave their undivided attention to every student at any time of the day. I learned some of the most significant lessons in my life, lessons that taught me about hard work, respect, kindness, and most importantly, self-love, something that, as humans, we do not practice enough. I watched myself over four years become the woman I have dreamt of being my entire life and for that, nothing has made me more content.

Junior: The teachers and administration really do care about your well-being. Sometimes that manifests itself as tough love but you always come out a better person after. They also want to help you in any way they can. Personally, my advisor has worked with me to get me in the classes I want and encouraged me to take risks with classes I hadn't thought about before. The college counseling is top-notch. The campus itself is extremely nice, but the girls' bathrooms leave something to be desired. The student body is incredibly diverse; I have close friends of all colors, from places like Russia, Vietnam, China, Korea, etc. The diversity of perspective is the diversity of the campus ten-fold. The people I have encountered here are some of the nicest, most thoughtful people I have ever met. They are outgoing, accepting, everything you could want from classmates. Overall, my experience here has been amazing, and I highly recommend this school to others.

Senior: Loomis Chaffee is an academically-focused environment for most with a large athletic presence as well. As a senior, I'll say Loomis is a place for you and your friends to make memories and prepare for college, and the downsides like mediocre food along with an overhanging, omnipresent, wet-blanket of an administration are easily overshadowed by the tight-night community of students who are all eager to have fun and show school spirit. The classes are rigorous yet rewarding, and as you progress through the years, the amount opportunities you can pursue vastly increase.

I feel lucky to have met so many different kids from around the world, everyone with a different story and perspective. Junior: I had a great experience at Peddie. The school was a perfect fit for me in all aspects of life. The academics challenged me but I was able to grow as a student from them. The school has a small tight-knit community which promotes the friendly and accepting energy that the students embody. The boarding aspect gives teenagers a strong sense of independence and responsibility, something that will be necessary once they begin their college education. The fact that the majority of faculty members live on campus also adds to the sense of community that Peddie has. Tecahers are available for extra help with school work throughout the entire day, not just during the school day. They work hard with their tudents to give them the best chance of success!

Sophomore: As a sophomore currently in Hackley, I can only highly recommend the school. The academic program is one of the most rigorous out there even if it isn't noticeable in the school. Various AP classes and advanced electives are the common practice beginning sophomore year and beyond and some freshmen may even take some as well.
The English Department is considered the bane of most students' existence and goes into such analytical depth that it rivals any AP English course out there.
Transitioning from a public school to this could be difficult, especially if it's into the Upper School. The rigorous curriculum will challenge you, and lower grades than usual will appear. Our strongest science and math students who take on AP Physics C and Multivariable Calculus in senior year are subject to the two most difficult classes in the school, classes that can give test grades as low as 40 on a regular basis. It's worth it though, the experience is unforgettable.

The lesson of having your brother’s back. STA is an all boys school and that is why I say brothers. I grew up with 3 sisters and I was the youngest in my family. St. Albans gave me the opportunity to have 68 brothers in my class that I knew would always have my back no matter what situation I was in. So all in all, STA is a great school. Despite my shortcomings their academically it taught me how to work hard and thrive in a tough, competitive environment. Our son branched out from his love of math/science to become an amazing writer. He uses both skill sets today. Your child will be very prepared for any selective college. They will gain well-developed critical thinking and writing skills. What stands out compared to other exceptional boarding/day schools across the country is the careful, genuine, relentless concern for the students' mental health. Bullying is well managed. Caring community is emphasized. Neither child ever had a mediocre teacher. The money we spent at St. Stephens was better spent than the money we later spent at selective, top-notch colleges.

Your teachers know and care for you, the students look out for each other, and by senior year, you'll feel a confidence in yourself and your abilities that you can really attribute to this education. I think there's a few aspects of this school which the students take advantage of, like the large efforts for cultural competency and the deliberate activities which we engage in to promote understanding. No place is perfect, however, but I have noticed that in times of strife the student body and the faculty will hold one another accountable. It's been a great high school experience overall.

The gothic chapel is designed by the architect who built Princeton University's chapel, and it carries a rich history. It is the kind of place that is hard to leave. Alum: I couldn't fathom rating Reserve anything less than five stars. From the first day of preseason to commencement, my life revolved around WRA; it's truly a lifestyle. If you'll allow me to informally list what I hold dear about Reserve, I'll do so. There's deep tradition, memorable and heartfelt events, the best of friends, innovation and technology at every corner, a plethora of opportunity, Reserve Green, 1.5 hour award ceremonies that you strangely miss, advisors that are like family, teachers that will have you over to their house for help, a menu that will make you excited for lunch, an athletic system that allows you to try new sports at no risk, a beautiful campus, and an unmatched experience that will be sure to leave you speechless when you finish your four years. I apologize for the monstrosity of a list but its honestly quite short for what I have to say about Reserve. Go green!

Senior: Emma Willard has a rigorous academic program that gave me plenty of opportunities to develop as a student and a person. There are plenty of resources on campus for academic help, whether it be through student tutors or the teachers themselves, who are often available during study hall. The students I learn alongside are some of the most intelligent, and have pushed me to become the best I am today.
The student body's awareness of social justice issues is also remarkable. In response, Emma has held events and discussions revolving around these issues, resulting in profound and rewarding conversations that I am grateful for.
I will say the lack of diversity in faculty is somewhat disappointing, considering the wide range of diversity among students. Additionally, the dining options have become redundant, having been a boarder for a few years here.
Overall, Emma Willard provides students with many fantastic opportunities—so long as you're willing to take advantage of them.

Overall, I have been really pleased with the opportunities the Athenian school has offered me whether that be through the BLEND-Ed program or the many internship opportunities you are offered I was able to better prepare myself for both college and my future career.
Athenian offers students the ability to form a bond with your peers you would never find somewhere else.
Unlike several other reviews I have found Athenian’s Athletics and Club opportunities to be well above average. Having transferred from Los Cerros, I was ecstatic to find the many clubs ranging from the nationally ranked robotics team to the Model UN club. Athenian’s Sports are also very strong when compared to the other private schools in our area and not to mention that any student can take any sport.

Parent: We moved our daughter to Riverstone midway through her first grade year after having her in one of the more highly rated public elementary schools with excellent test scores. She is now in 3rd grade, and we have been highly impressed with the education she has received over the past 2+ years at Riverstone.
At the public school, the larger class sizes and the big disparity in academic abilities prevented teachers from working with our daughter individually. Significant emphasis was put toward preparing the children to excel the standardized math and reading tests. This was the major deciding factor when making the switch to Riverstone.
Riverstone is not teaching the kids to excel at testing. Rather, they are promoting creativity that has our daughter engaged and always excited to go to school every day! Riverstone's IB program is well-rounded and ties subject areas together for projects and field trips. They also have specialists teaching art, music, Spanish and Mandarin. Thank you!

Parent: As a current parent and a parent of an alumna, I am grateful for our experience. My very different children have myriad interests. Whether academic, athletic, performing/visual arts, or technology, Masters has satiated their needs and passions. My daughter was celebrated, appreciated and supported for who she is as a student, vocalist, athlete, community member and a person. Her ability to develop close relationships with faculty ultimately drove her decision to attend a college that offered the same dynamic. She says she misses the dining hall at Masters! Apparently, fish sticks at college are not the same as salmon and striped bass in high school. She often spoke of her "Masters Identity,” which allowed for risk taking, challenge, success and failure. It created opportunities for her to discover what she is truly passionate about while being her authentic self. She was sent into the world as a culturally and academically competent, kind human being. What more could I ask for?

Alum: There are several pros associated with this school: instilling a sense of purpose and becoming "Men for Others," is of utmost importance. Students are academically challenged from the start. The campus is incredible, facilities immaculate, and the history of the school is incredibly rich. I also really enjoyed the religious element; I most enjoyed "World Religions," where I learned about inclusivity and open-mindedness through carefully studying and understanding other religious systems and beliefs. The one negative for me was how conservative and non-diverse the school is; you will experience your fair share of rich kids. Your typical kid at Prep will spout whatever political/religious jargon their well-off parents spewed at home, without thinking about it critically and how policies/actions will affect "normal" people -- which can become quite hypocritical, given the school's motto: "Men for Others." Students of varying income levels and backgrounds need to be better incorporated.

Senior: For the first 2 years, I absolutely loved it. I loved how tight knit the school was, the small classes and the structured schedule. But as I reached my Junior year, I started feeling like this school was too small for me. For a person that is looking for a community, Brooks can definitely provide that. Students always say hi and because most faculties also live on campus, your teachers are not just your teachers but also your coach, dorm parent and more. But if you are looking to branch out and try a bunch of new things and explore yourself, Brooks might not be the place for you. Though Brooks does try to accommodate students like that, offering independent studies and the freedom to pick and choose classes senior year, it is just not the same as some bigger schools.

Parent: Approach to learning/instruction top-notch. Cross-curricula approach amazing & all subjects integrated in thoughtful, engaging manner. Tuition very high w/ annual increases. Beautiful campus & outdoor learning large part of program. Open campus creates safety concerns. School has much work to do in safety department. School is very liberal. Say they present both sides, typically do not, especially political issues. Community inclusive & diverse on all fronts. Safe place for gender identity/LGBTQ community. Admissions should be balanced w/ due diligence. Promises made but untrue. No accountability for these "sales-driven" misrepresentations. Teachers are amazing & know their students. Teachers specialize. Children are not relying on one teacher to teach all subjects. Teachers hone their expertise & focus on new ways of engaging students. Teachers just as excited & engaged as the children. There is no complacency. Overall, great place to learn, grow & thrive as whole person.

The faculty is not only deeply knowledgeable in their content areas, but also takes great joy in working directly with students. The curriculum is extremely rigorous, and I found I needed to get to my junior year of college before the coursework challenged me in a way that I was challenged in high school. Given the small size of the school, it's not for everyone, but anyone looking for an immersive experience that is guaranteed to change a child's life trajectory, consider TJ.

The positives of Kent School are immense. The sense of community, the teachers, the students are second to none. I am extremely lucky to live with the person I call my best friend, to wake up everyday with all my friends on the hall. Every single teacher on this campus cares about their students, and wants them to succeed. It is not hard to do this at Kent. As a student who was disgusted by the idea of going to boarding school, my experience has been nothing but positive. The teachers are quite diverse too, most of which are not from Long Island! The food, made by Sage Dining, can be hit-or-miss. Some foods can be questionable, but it is mostly decent. The school is making an emphasis on improving the facilities of the school but need to fix some dorms.

Parent: All of my son’s teachers have been exceptionally talented at both teaching and inspiring. The students, both diverse and highly talented, are very supportive of each other - the antithesis of the cutthroat behavior in some other elite schools. The staff and Adminitration really care and make a point of knowing and supporting the students. My son loves dorm life, his classes, Tech opportunities (Robotics, App Dev.), the mountaineering program, and the stuningly beautiful campus. The Arts are heavily supported which draws impressive talent and provides many opportunities to partake. I have friends whose children strongly disliked their experience at two of the “top ten” schools so we looked for the same level of academics in a more positive supportive school community; We found it!

Parent: As a parent with a happy student enrolled I have been impressed with the care of the whole child. My child has been allowed to push them-self academically, not restricted by class size (move up to Honor/AP class or to back course, once workload is experienced). With small classes, teachers can inspire/challenge individual skill they see in their student irregardless of course goals. Whether a cold or injury the medical staff is like having family right on campus to take care of your child. Living amongst the Admin, Teachers, Coaches, etc. has given my child a view of these people as people, valuing what they bring the to their jobs.

Alum: I loved Stevenson (alum, Class of '15), so this comment should be taken as a critique for improvement rather than a summation of my experience (if it wasn't stellar, I wouldn't mention it).
Stevenson absolutely should (and needs to) do more for increasing its diversity and financial aid. At my time, only <30% of students were on some aid of any sort, and the result is a relatively homogeneous student body. The faculty were tremendously supportive of me (low-income) but the administration wasn't quite there. While I do recognize it's a tricky business being supportive of low-income/otherwise-marginalized students while also making ends meet, it's tremendously important. Stevenson is absolutely capable of making these changes and has an obligation to (beyond "Diversity Week" and guest speakers). If you're reading this and you're involved with Stevenson, it should be your priority to support these goals too!

I am grateful and truly appreciate the school's diversity, college readiness, safety, resources, and sincere love and support of all the teachers and faculty.
This is truly a wonderful school and my family is blessed to be apart it. Thank you Fairmont Preparatory Academy, for providing many positive and memorable opportunities and experiences, but most importantly for making a difference in our children's lives!

Alum: During my first year at Culver, I grew the equivalent to three years that I would have had of growth back home. I got to meet people from all over the world, with different backgrounds, and different ways of thinking. The schools creates a community in which it is very easy to form lifelong friendships. Suddenly all the girls from CGA are your friends...and your closest friends are the girls from your dorm (or house), and your best friends are the girls from your floor! It does not matter what country/age/religion/ethnicity they are. Academics are the best and suddenly you are taking classes with the author of the book used in class, and not only used at culver but in other high schools in the country. The teachers genuinely care for the students and they live right on campus so they are always available to help students. Every sport/activity you can come up with is probably there and if you want/like an activity that is not there, the school is always willing to open it!

Parent: The Northwest School is a rare find. Idealism about the role and purpose of education is a distinguishing quality of the school. It is an intentional community that values individual contribution and intellectual courage. Kids are celebrated for who they are and encouraged to try new things. They are scholars, athletes, artists, explorers, and activists – one and all. This approach develops critical thinkers who know themselves from the inside out. The faculty are brilliant! Not only great teachers, they are mentors and guides who care deeply about each and every child. We are grateful that both of our girls have had the opportunity to learn and grow in this magical learning environment with caring, compassionate faculty.

Senior: I’m so grateful for every part of my Pennington experience. The academics are strong and have challenged me over the past four years, teaching me how to learn in a better, more effective, and more efficient way. It is so easy to be involved between clubs, sports, and drama. Something that stands out to me about Pennington is the immense support every student receives to branch out, something that I have experienced myself and my friends have, as well.

Senior: The McCallie School is an all boys school, that is a day and boarding school. My experience at this school has been fantastic, and it has shaped me into a man just like the motto states "Inspiring Boys. Building Men." Coming to the ridge and moving away from home was at first terrifying, but the faculty and students brought me in with open arms. From the friday night football games, to grinding out test I have made more memories than anyone else in a lifetime, and McCallie has propelled me for the challenges ahead in college. No matter how cliché it may sound I wouldn't change my 4 years at McCallie for anything in the world, it is a life changing experience. If I were a parent with a boy soon entering middle school or high school, I would most definitely look into McCallie and at least give the admissions office a phone call. It is the best decision a person could ever make!

Parent: An incredibly enriching environment to raise young men of character into leaders and good citizens. Challenging academics with supportive teachers, competitive sports, and a community of good young men. Strong values loyalty and integrity are honored here. Emphasized by chapel services to start some of their days and by the examples of the compassionate teachers that live among these boys in an impressive setting on the hilltop. The facilities are top notch and all are well maintained, look new and always immaculate when we visit.

Parent: Driving through the stone gates on to St. George’s oceanfront campus always fills me with excitement. There’s energy everywhere: a football game on the new turf fields, organ music bellowing from the chapel, surfers on their way to the beach, the Dragon Wagon running kids into Newport, or an English class headed to nearby Providence to see a play.
Our daughter is thriving at SG, which has given her the opportunity and support to exercise responsibility, independence, leadership, service, and compassion for others.
Academics are top-notch. SG’s Merck Center for Teaching is gaining national attention and puts SG at the forefront of innovative teaching for 21st Century learners.
Kids support and rely on each other. Friendships run deep and teamwork is essential.
While the campus is beautiful with an unbeatable view, the dorms are a little shabby and could use a makeover, but the kids don’t seem to care.
If I could go to high school again, I’d go to St. George’s!

Middle School Student: Dana made me feel accepted for who I am, and I’ve never felt this confident and never have had this much self-love. There’s something for every girl here. Whether you’re into athletics, visual arts, performing arts, computer science, model UN or equestrian, there’s something for you and they’re high quality. Teachers care about you and are understanding. People here are diverse, vibrant and all care about each other. There’s outstanding levels for everyone, from honors and AP to introductory. If you ever need help, there’s science, math and English lab during the day if you need help. Teachers are always happy to help you after class! Each time, whether home or visiting, I am incredibly impressed with how gracious, well-mannnered, and polite their players are. Winning or losing, they have a kind word for their teammates and opponents, and even parents. They carry themselves maturely and respectfully. I can’t speak for the academics, but whatever they are doing to build these boys’ character, well done!

Senior: Forest Ridge is a great school to attend, the academics are very challenging and the teachers know how to push students to create the best work possible. Since the academics are quite rigorous, there is a slightly stressed and competitive environment at the school. However, this does not mean that the student community is not strong. From my personal experience, everyone is so friendly and welcoming, especially new student entering the high school. I would recommend this school to prepare for college readiness as some of the courses mimic college level work. Athletics is also another fun part of the Forest Ridge experience, there is a no-cut policy that ensure that all students can participate in any sports; this is a great place to meet new people in other grades and where I made some of my best friendships!

Alum: I was a boarding student at Saint Andrew's from 2014 until I graduated in 2016. Prior to Saint Andrew's I had a poor experience at a different local boarding school that was lackluster in comparison. Although no school is perfect, unlike my previous school the majority of the faculty at Saint Andrew's genuinely care about the students. I received not only a great education, but a very enriching life experience that prepared me for life in college and beyond. Also, the traditions at Saint Andrew's are another bonus that truly shows the school spirit!

Alum: The community is amazing and the friendships I made, both with my peers and teachers, have continued to support my growth as a student and leader. No where else in my life have I encountered a community in which trust and respect are so unanimously upheld. My teachers were over qualified, highly educated and genuinely interested in my success. The only downside to my four years there was the disconnect between the ever changing administration and the student body. It often felt like our administration cared more about the school's image and reputation than they did about the livin conditions of students or offering appropriate mental health support.

Works Here: Linden Hall distinguishes itself from nearly every other college preparatory school of the same academic caliber in one significant way, that must be seen and felt to truly understand it: community. The genuine warmth, sincere friendliness, and the true sisterhood shared by the students at Linden Hall is simply unbeatable. I think Linden Hall is able to accomplish this through their small size, their highly diverse, global community, and their commitment to service and character building. Nearly every student that chooses Linden Hall over another equally competitive academic school, states that the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the campus combined with the friendliness of the students and faculty, were the ultimate reasons that Linden Hall stood above the rest of the competition. This trait must be seen and felt to truly understand it, so don't wait: schedule your visit to Linden Hall now!

Parent: Woodlands is deeply committed to the young ladies and families it serves offering very strong academics, opportunities for both personal and spiritual development, and excellent college counseling! The staff are amazing, too. We loved the former principal, Mrs. Edmunds, and also equally love the current principal, Christine Schmidt (who is doing a fantastic job)! Everyone here -- including a knowledgeable registrar -- is doing an outstanding job educating these spirited, very smart, caring young women. My only complaint would be the choices made by the board of trustees. I hope people know that the trustees don't speak for all parents. I still disagree with their decision to let valuable staff go in order to save funds & I also think they would benefit from new, fresher perspectives/members. No place is ever perfect, of course, but this private all-girl's Catholic high school on the northshore comes pretty darn close! A++

Parent: Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is a wonderful all girls school in La Cañada Flintridge, CA. We have two daughters that have attended and one going to start and all three love the school. They have learned, grown and become wonderful young ladies due in big part to this school and its teachers and administration. It is a loving and nurturing environment, not only for the students but for their families as well. The academics are rigorous and they are well prepared for college. The college counseling dept. is amazing and the counselors teach the girls how to get the applications done, with very little parent involvement. The girls make great, life- long friends and show respect and an amazing sisterhood towards eachother. I am very grateful for all the friends, teachers, and coaches I have met here. The connections I have made will last a lifetime. Senior: Verde Valley School has a very rich culture. There are many traditions that make the school unique, like Mud Pit, Clue Finding, and Fire Run. For newcomers, these traditions come as a shock but they eventually come to embrace the VVS way of life. I love the school's diversity in the student body, although faculty diversity is somewhat lacking. Academics wise, VVS is an IB school. So, the work load and curriculum for IB Diploma students is definitely challenging. Many of the school's facilities are very old, preserved from the old days, but this is somewhat limiting. I wish the school could modernize the dorms and add more sports facilities, like a pool and track and field, just to widen the variety of sports students can try. Nonetheless, my years in VVS was amazing. All the teachers are very caring and they you develop a different kind of closeness to them compared to normal high school. VVS is an amazing place for everyone! It is a model of the diverse world that we live in.

Parent: I'm a current parent with one child here and another child at a traditional top-tier boarding school, and I must say that I'm very impressed with all my and my child's interactions with CSW faculty thus far, along with the pervasive intellectuality and "artistic-ness"of the place. We are happy with this school but we did do our homework and weighed pros & cons. While it's not for every kid -and what school is?- it suits more kids than people might think. The sports are good enough and you get to sidestep the jock culture/hierarchy that a lot of kids are happy to do without. Good preparation for college, and good college placement to boot!

Senior: As an international student who has been here for four years, I believe that Miss Hall's has offered me the best I can envision for a high school experience. People care here. My teachers invest their greatest effort in helping us discover our interest and supporting them. I never realized that I have this great passion for art before I came here, nor I have envisioned being able to present myself confidently in front of a crowd of 300 people regularly. The Horizons program which provides internship and volunteer opportunities that combines our interests has really boarded my horizon and challenged me to think beyond the classroom. The administration also cares. The voice of the student government is always valued and considered in their process.

Alum: Pilgrim School is not like other pretentious Los Angeles private schools. As a recent alumni of Pilgrim, I can confidently say that Pilgrim helped me love what I was learning and helped me love learning in general. With teachers and administrators who treated students with a sense of equity and respect, school felt less like a job and more a community that works symbiotically. With an amazing STEM program, especially engineering, Pilgrim school helped me thrive and formulate and idea what I would like to major in during college. Cafeteria food is not good but thats about the biggest negative!

Parent: We currently have students on the Lower School Campus. We have been extremely impressed with the overall learning experience and climate of the school. We love that the school administration appears to have adopted a "forward thinking" ideology when reviewing policies and procedures. They are constantly reviewing current research and trends, as well as seeking parent and student input, when evaluating the school's needs and direction. The current head of school is open to ideas and suggestions and, consequently, has brought many innovative educational learning strategies and programs to the school.
As with any school there are clearly areas that have room for improvement, but we love that the school is open to reviewing and considering these and making adjustments as needed.

Alum: TMI is an incredible private school that values not only quality education, but also community service, student leadership, and good sportsmanship. I'd say all the students grow to be well-rounded individuals with every advantage at succeeding in life. Unlike Keystone that focuses, in my opinion, too much on academics, TMI focuses on the overall happiness and well-being of its students, while providing an engaging enviornment for student life and college-preparatory education. The campus is absolutely beautiful, and because the school is relatively small, students are trusted to act like adults and given freedoms and opportunities you won't find at other schools. Walking around this school is like being on a small private college campus. In addition, teachers are supportive of students in every way imaginable. Unlike other students at my university, I was prepared for college and able to maintain a 4.0 without trying very much.

Parent: I have two daughters, both of whom attended Maharishi School from pre-school through 12th grade. I think the thing I’m most grateful for doesn’t have anything to do with academics, although the School’s academics are very good. (Both of my daughters attended respected, highly-selected colleges.)
The nurturing atmosphere of the school and the TM technique cultured an attitude of kindness and care for others and for the world. They even have a motto that the students learn – The World is my Family.
Students graduate being grounded in themselves in the deepest sense. They leave as life-long learners and clear, critical thinkers. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend Maharishi School more highly!

Parent: Our family had a great experience at WA! There are so many opportunities for kids to find their interests and try new activities. The teachers are mostly fantastic. There are super academic opportunities for geniuses, really bright kids, and kids who need structure and motivation to be their best student-selves. This makes for a nice mix of kids with a broad variety of strengths and talents. Kids get so many chances to form close bonds with their teachers, who often are also their coaches, club advisors, project mentors, academic advisors. Academic AND personal preparation for college is topnotch. WA kids learn how to write, research, think creatively. The unique urban historic campus provides options for community service and seeing life beyond the ivy-covered gates. "Achieve the honorable" motto is central to everything at the school.

Niche User: The atmosphere at Webb is extremely welcoming. This begins with the admissions department and carries through to the students, advisors, and teachers. On "move-in day" when it is normal to be apprehensive about what boarding school will be like, the students and families are greeted by older students who help them move into their dorm room and then stay with the student and family for the entire day. This is our student's third year and amazingly, the admissions department does not abandon families after enrollment. Every time we are on campus, whenever we see someone from admissions, they ask about our student and our family. We had a choice of several schools and are so very glad we chose Webb!
